Celtic Hounds Wall Plaque
The design used on this wall plaque comes from the Book of Kells. Hounds were important in Celtic design, and it is thought that they epitomise loyalty, due to the bond dogs share with their owners. The Book of Kells is the greatest masterpiece created by Celtic artists, and it is thought to have been produced on the tiny Scottish island of Iona. When the abbey on Iona was raided by Viking invaders the Book of Kells was moved to the abbey at Kells in Ireland, and it is now in the library of Trinity College in Dublin.
Due to the way they are made, each plaque is uniquely coloured. Each comes strung ready to hang, with descriptive notes describing the original stone.
